THE UST Chorus of Arts and Letters (AB Chorale) again proved its vocal caliber after bagging first place in the Clarion Call Chorale Competition held Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

The AB Chorale snagged the championship title and P50,000 in the competition, defeating Pansol Choir and Alab Vocal Ensemble which settled for second and third place, respectively.

AB Chorale sang the piece titled “Psalm 100″ composed by Asst. Prof. Fidel Calalang Jr.

Chorale President Camille Barsolaso said the win was unexpected, considering that the chorale’s competitors have taken part in international constests.

“It felt so surreal. Kasi this time, mas unexpected siya since it’s our first time to compete outside the University tapos ‘yung iba pa sa mga kalaban namin nagko-compete internationally so parang sino ba naman kami,” she told the Flame.

Barsolaso noted that they joined the competition for the sake of experience.

“I felt intimidated at first, kasi nga baguhan kami sa mga ganoong competitions pero we just stood by what our conductor told us na ‘be confident but be humble,’” the chorale’s president said.

On May 5, the AB Chorale seized a back-to-back championship in UST’s annual chorale competition, Himig Tomasino.

The Clarion Call Chorale Competition is part of the 2018 New Evangelization Conference hosted by Live Christ, Share Christ Institute for Formation and Training. F
