The event themed “Silakbo ng Dunong at Gamlay” will be held on March 23, 8 a.m., at the UST Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati Building. Long-standing international problems on achieving good health and well-being (SDG 3), quality education (SDG 4), reduced inequalities (SDG 10), and peace and strong justice institutions (SDG 16) will be discussed during the event. by KAREN RENEE NOGOY THE UST Philets and Artlets Alumni Association, in partnership with the UST Alumni Association and Artlets Student Council (ABSC), will hold the first in-person grand alumni homecoming in three years to celebrate the Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB)’ 127th founding anniversary. The event, “The Splendor of Philets and Artlets: 127 Years of Grandeur and Glory” will be held on March 18, 1 p.m., at the Kalayaan Hall of Club Filipino, Greenhills, San Juan City. It is expected to be attended by AB alumni members coming from different batches from the 1960s. Current Artlet seniors are also invited. By KAREN RENEE NOGOY THE VARSITARIAN, the official student publication of the University of Santo Tomas (UST), extended the deadline for submission of entries for the 8th UST National Campus Journalism Awards (UNCJA) until Jan. 14. The UNCJA recognizes exemplary works of print and online college and university-level student publications nationwide in three categories namely in-depth report, editorial, and feature writing.  The Varsitarian launched the first campus journalism awards in 2015 to promote social awareness of local and national issues through campus journalism. SENIORS OF the UST Department of Economics, as part of the National Collegiate Economics Convention (NCEC), will be holding a forum titled “Out of Stock: Understanding the Structure of Supply Chain Management in the Philippines” on Nov. 19. The event will tackle the surge of commodity prices and the country’s supply chains, and will provide tips on how people could “shield” themselves from the effects of inflation. Through its invited speakers and experts, the event aims to “familiarize” people with the global issue of how supply and demand affect their daily lives.  The forum will be held via Zoom and live-streamed on its Facebook page from 9 a.m to 4 p.m F – Trisha Tamio

by PRINCE RONSON SABADO THE UNIVERSITY will be opening its doors to incoming freshmen and returning Thomasian students with its annual school-wide welcoming campaign, #BalikUSTe, with its theme "Make your mark, Tigers.” The event was physically discontinued for two consecutive years due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, halting its 2020 edition and conducting its virtual edition in 2021. By KAREN RENEE NOGOY UST TIGER Radio, the University’s official e-radio station, extended the deadline for submitting entries for this year’s intern jock search until June 13. The audition is open to all bona fide senior high school and college students of the University. Accepted applicants will undergo a series of tests and challenges before officially joining the new roster of jocks through the station’s annual show “Behind the Roar” (BTR). To join, auditionees shall film a video not longer than two minutes, telling why they deserve to be an intern jock, post them publicly on Facebook with the hashtags #BTReadyToRoar and #BTRS3Auditions, and tag the UST Tiger Radio's official Facebook page.
