SEVEN RESEARCHERS-translators from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) will tackle the concepts of translating technical texts into the Filipino language at the Sentro sa Salin at Araling Salin’s upcoming forum. by NILLICENT BAUTISTA THE ARTLETS Economics Society will hold a forum on April 11 to discuss the role of the youth in the upcoming national elections and challenge the competence of the political candidates. “Kilalanin Mo, Kandidato Mo: The AES 2022 Electoral Tournament” is a two-part event, both an electoral tournament and a political forum, highlighting the platforms and contributions of all presidential candidates aspirants. It also aims to help the youth be informed by fostering objectivity and integrity as they prepare to make crucial decisions in the upcoming elections. The AES 2022 Electoral Tournament is part of the Society’s 47th-anniversary celebration and will be held simultaneously on Zoom and Facebook live from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. F

THE UST Model United Nations (MUN), an event that aims to increase the knowledge of Filipino students about diplomacy, will be held on March 10 to 12. The three-day conference, a flagship project of the Asian Studies Society since 2013, strives to connect young leaders through simulations of the United Nations (UN) assemblies. UST MUN 2021 will be held virtually with a theme “Championing international collective action: Mitigating the multisectoral adversities of COVID-19 through effective global health governance.” The 8th installation of UST MUN will tackle prevailing issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic, and seek solutions from the participants who will act as delegates of UN countries. The workshop is open to all UST college students except for students from the Faculty of Arts and Letters Creative Writing program. The CWW is an annual literary workshop-seminar, where some of the country’s top writers personally guide and workshop the works of aspiring Thomasian writers.
