THE FACULTY of Arts and Letters (AB) Men’s Volleyball Team dismantled the Institute of Information and Computing Sciences (IICS), 28-26 and 25-20, during its season opener in this year’s Thomasian Goodwill Games held Monday at the P. Noval Court.

A service error from the Dapitan-based squad brought IICS an inch closer to winning the first frame at 21-24 but AB’s combined offense and defense then forced a deuce.

IICS capitalized on AB’s errors during the early part of the second set to pull a 4-0 run and maintain its two-point lead.

However, errors overwhelmed both squads, forcing five deadlocks in the frame.

AB took control of the second set with a 6-0 run after its stealthy offense escaped the opponent, 23-16. IICS’ Kyle Vallido tried to revive his team’s hopes but to no avail.

Estrada said AB’s service errors contributed to the early leads of IICS in both sets, but said his team’s strong interception and defense paved way for victory.

AB will face the College of Science on Nov. 8 at the same venue. F CRIS EUGENE T. GIANAN
