THE FACULTY of Arts and Letters (AB) Women’s Volleyball Team posted its first victory after prevailing over the Faculty of Engineering Women’s Volleyball Team, 25-11 and 25-18, in this year’s Thomasian Goodwill Games held Tuesday at P. Noval Court.

AB’s Nica Flores blasted a 6-0 run with a series of service aces in the first set but was halted by an error at 10-7, in favor of the women in blue.

The Dapitan-based squad unleashed a 9-0 run against Engineering with Kacie Crisologo and Aldana Padernal’s combined attacks, blowing the lead to 11, 21-10.

The opposing teams battled neck-and-neck in the second frame, forcing six deadlocks. AB crushed Engineering after 5-0 run.

AB team captain Elyanna Dayanghirang said the team members focused on improving their service and receive. “Iyon ‘yung tinuro sa amin ng coach namin na ang strength daw namin ay ‘yung service and receive namin kaya ‘yun ‘yung mas in-enhance namin sa team,” Dayanghirang told the Flame.

She said the team should not be complacent and must continue to improve for its next game. “[‘Y]ung laro namin kanina medyo okay-okay lang pero ngayon, since may three days pa kami para mag-training, ime-make sure namin na mas gagalingan pa namin.”
