ASIAN STUDIES freshman Makyla Chavez is the new face of the University in the upcoming UAAP Season 81.

The new batch of courtside reporters–three of whom are returning to the court for the second time and five of whom are new–was announced by ABS-CBN Sports on Wednesday night.

A television commercial and print advertisement model, Chavez is no stranger to the spotlight. The Asian Studies freshman is a member of UST Tiger TV and also hosted the live coverage of this year’s Freshmen Week.

Chavez will be taking her place among other Artlets who became courtside reporters such as Tonie Moreno (Communication Arts; Season 80), Angelique Manto (Communication Arts; Seasons 78 and 79 and NCAA Season 94), and Kristelle Bachelor (Journalism; Season 76).

As the courtside reporter, Chavez will be tasked with bringing viewers closer to the many Thomasian athletes representing the University in the prestigious intercollegiate league.

UAAP Season 81 will officially open at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Sept. 8.

The Men’s Basketball category will lead the opening of the games, with the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons up against the University of the East Red Warriors at 2:00 p.m. and the National University Bulldogs clashing with the UST Growling Tigers at 4:00 p.m. with reports from C.E.T. Gianan and J.L.E. Casilao
