The Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) Women’s Volleyball Team secured a spot in the quarter finals of the Thomasian Goodwill Games after defeating the College of Architecture (Arki), 25-15 and 26-24.

AB swiftly left Arki in the dust from 15-14 to a crushing 25-15 by stepping up their defenses in the first frame.

The second frame began neck and neck, 10-10, with multiple service errors from both sides.

Miscommunication among AB allowed Arki to briefly hold the lead, 16-13, but AB stayed close behind until a standoff at 21-21. AB overtook Arki, 23-22, after a blinding ace by Francette Flores.

After a total of nine deadlocks in the frame, Arki choked and failed to react to AB’s finishing volley.

AB team coach Bren Dion Mendoza said his players won because of their consistency and determination to win.

Ki-norrect namin lahat ng mga error namin before tapos in-improve lang namin ‘yung mga dapat i-improve sa kanila,” Mendoza said.

The game was held Saturday at the P. Noval Covered Court.
