THE COMMUNICATION Arts Students Association (CASA) Footworks defended its crown as champion for four straight years in Cypher, the annual inter-major street dance competition of the Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB).
CASA Footworks bested 11 other contenders after garnering a total of 93 points for its Peter Pan-inspired dance interpretation.
Both earning 83.2 points, Economics’ Econlibrium and English Language Studies’ Phonetix tied as first runner up. The third-time second placer Econlibrium executed a routine inspired by The Incredibles while Phonetix staged a Wreck It Ralph-themed performance.
Legal Management’s Lex Baile made a comeback as second runner-up after not participating in the competition last year. Its Toy Story-inspired routine garnered 81.9 points.
Furthermore, Codie Larracas of CASA Footworks bagged the Best Female Stunner award while Syno’s Carl Caspe and Catalyst’s Cassius Mercedes were both awarded Best Male Stunner.
In line with the celebration of AB Week, dance troupes from the different societies of the Faculty showcased their talents on the dance floor through their childhood film-inspired performances. F – KIMVIRLY P. ZAYAT
