TWO ARTLETS are eyeing the two-time vacant position of auditor of the Arts and Letters Student Council (ABSC).

Gherick Barlis of the Grand Alliance for Progress (GAP), the sole candidate for auditor last special elections, is running for the position for the second time after 1,155 void ballots previously outnumbered the 1,149 votes she obtained.

“What motivated me is ‘yung 1,149 na bumoto sa akin at saka ‘yung experience ko noong campaign. I was ready noong tumakbo ako. […] I can say that I am more ready now to serve AB and to show them what I can do for AB,” Barlis told the Flame on Tuesday during the filing of certificates of candidacy.

Also vying for the position of auditor is Legal Management junior Jose Antonio Rivera of the Students’ Democratic Party (SDP).

Kahit na sabihin nating ito na ‘yung pangalawang (special) election, mayroon akong will. Iyon ‘yung nagtulak sa akin para pumasok sa ganitong klaseng trabaho na maglingkod sa Artlets,” Rivera said.

GAP’s bets Clio Marie Ocampo and Janina Louise Catap were declared the new vice president for internal affairs and secretary of the ABSC, respectively, during the recently concluded special elections, leaving the position of auditor still vacant.

SDP regained accreditation this year after losing the chance to participate in the April elections.

Dekada did not field a candidate for auditor while the Students’ Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights in UST was not accredited this year because it did not reach the minimum number of members stated in the UST Student’s Election Code of 2011.

The announcement of the official list of candidates will be on Oct. 26 while the campaign period will be from Nov. 6 to 8.

A mandatory debate will be held on the last day of the campaign period, followed by the special elections from Nov. 9 to 11.

The canvassing of votes and proclamation of the winner will be on Nov. 11. F
