THE FACULTY of Arts and Letters (AB) Men’s Volleyball Team faltered against the UST Senior High School (SHS), 20-25, 27-29, and 17-25, settling for fourth place in this year’s Thomasian Goodwill Games at the P. Noval Court Tuesday.

The Dapitan-based squad almost grabbed the second frame after keeping a close fight with SHS, forcing 13 deadlocks and a deuce.

SHS’ James Nartea delivered a spike, countering the attacks of AB’s Wayne Parulan and team captain Russel Wilfred Estrada to claim the set, 29-27.

The senior high school students maintained their streak in the third set as they fired up a 10-point advantage, 14-4, but an error allowed AB to pull a 4-0 run, 8-14. SHS did not allow AB to take the lead and finished the match.

Miscommunication inside the court troubled AB, Estrada said.

“I think kailangan mas maging buo ‘yung team. Kasi this year, maraming bagong players so hindi pa masyadong magkakakilala lahat kaya minsan may miscommunication,” Estrada told the Flame.

Kailangan matuto lumaban ng players kasi kinulang kami sa puso the past two games,” he added.

The momentum continuously shifted to both teams in the first set, tying the match at 20 but SHS blasted a 5-0 run to claim the first frame. F
