THE SOLE agenda of Neoliberalism is to eliminate universities as producers of knowledgelimiting people to processors and distributors of information, a professor said in a conference hosted by the Department of Philosophy and Kritike: An Online Journal of Philosophy last Feb.6.

Bob Brecher, a philosophy professor at the University of Brighton, centered on the implications of neoliberal revolution in Higher Education during the 2nd Kritike Conference.

“Recognize not just the political realities and priorities of the neoliberal revolutionaries, remember, we are living through revolution, but also to understand the way in which that revolution is an epistemic one,” he said.

Brecher said that the role of universities is not just to produce knowledge, but to produce knowledge in order to make the world a better place.

“The job of the universities is to teach students to want the right things, not to give them what they want,” he said.

The 2nd Kritike Conference is an event that will feature talks from keynote speakers who focus on contemporary crises of higher education every Saturday of February 2021 via Zoom.

The following conference sessions will feature lecturers Prof. Paolo A. Bolaños from the University of Santo Tomas, Sensei Adorador from Carlos Hidalgo Memorial State College, and Prof. Gerardo Lanuza from University of the Philippines-Diliman. F
