THE UST English Language Studies Society (ELSSOC) will conduct a psycholinguistics webinar on Saturday, exploring the relationship between language and the human mind.

The forum titled “Tell Me More: A Webinar on Psycholinguistics” aims to hone the participants’ understanding of the discipline concerned with the psychology of language, ELSSOC said.

“The proposed academic webinar will be discussing the field of psycholinguistics and aims for BA English Language Studies students and other interested participants from other universities to understand another branch of linguistics that is essential in honing their knowledge of the connection between the language we speak and our human brain,” the organization said.

In the event, Patricia Amillos, a doctoral candidate of the International Doctorate for Experimental Approaches to Language and Brain program, will focus on the introduction of psycholinguistics and word learning.

The second lecture will dive into children’s comprehension and production of basic transitive sentences in Tagalog with Rowena Garcia, a postdoctoral researcher at Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics’ language development department, as the speaker.

The event will be held on Oct. 30 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. via Microsoft Teams and the registration link can be accessed through ELSSOC’s social media accounts.
