THE PHILIPPINES Communication Society (PCS) will hold a forum tackling the truth in political public relations (PR) and advertising on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

“Truth Well Told: Political PR and Advertising” aims to highlight the role of PR and advertising in delivering the truth amid the spread of misleading information ahead of the campaign period, PCS director and chairman of the National Forum on Communication Democracy Dante Velasco said.

“Even before election campaigning has begun, the matter of delivering true, honest, and accurate profiles on candidates and on their plans has become crucial. That’s because – this early – there have been a great number of dishonest, fraudulent, exaggerated, misleading, and even offensive messages that have characterized social media,” Velasco said.

“This forum will, therefore, bring to public awareness the extreme necessity to insist on the truth in communication messages,” he added.

The resource speakers are Philippine Daily Inquirer columnist and presidential historian Manuel Quezon III; Agents International Public Relations president and political strategist Alan German; Earl Jaynus Guzman, a political communication professor at Polytechnic University of the Philippines; and Rejie Jularbal, legal counsel of the Advertising Standards Council.

UST journalism professor and ABS-CBN News Channel anchor Christian Esguerra will be the moderator in the forum.

This will be the fourth webinar under the National Forum on Communication and Democracy: Philippine Elections 2022, organized by the PCS together with TVUP, the University of the Philippines’ Internet TV Network.

The said forum will be held via Zoom and live-streamed on PCS and TVUP’s Facebook pages, as well as TVUP’s YouTube channel at 9 a.m. F
