THREE STUDENTS from the Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) filed their certificates of candidacy for the upcoming Central Student Council (CSC) elections, Tuesday, March 21.
Former UST Journalism Society vice president-internal Christopher Daniel Reyes is eyeing the position of treasurer under Lakasdiwa.
The Journalism junior said it is his goal to pursue transparency in the University. “I believe it is about time for me to defy the limits and to go beyond the pool of a journalist […] It is about time to fight for holistic transparency and this is what the whole Thomasian [community] deserves.”
Marketing Management sophomore Daveson Jay Nieto of Lakas Tomasino Coalition (LTC) will compete against Reyes.
Meanwhile, Political Science sophomore Francis Gabriel Santos (independent) and Literature junior Lance Lauren Santiago (LTC) will vie for the position of public relations officer.
“Napapagod na ako sa ganitong kalakaran na tuwing eleksyon, magaganda’t pogi ang nananalo. Wala naman po sanang masama kung nagagawa nila ang mga pinangako at trabaho nila. […] Para sa akin, dapat matapos na ang ganoong kultura. Dapat baguhin na iyon,” Santos told the Flame.
Santiago, on the other hand, aims to be the voice of the whole student body.
“Bilang isang Artlet, bilang isang Literature major at Tomasino, I feel that it is important to voice out not only my opinion but also of the Thomasian community nang may paninindigan, nang may prinsipyo,” said Santiago, who is also a Carlos Palanca awardee.
Both Artlets will go against Nursing junior John Rhorick Legaspi of Lakasdiwa.
Moreover, former CSC vice president Steven Muller Grecia is the sole candidate for the presidency this year.
Battling head-to-head for the post of vice president are College of Fine Arts and Design student Renz Santiago (Lakasdiwa) and College of Rehabilitation Sciences student Gabriela Angela Sepulchre (LTC).
College of Tourism and Hospitality Management students Josephine Beatrice Domingo (Lakasdiwa) and Alexandra Marie Guevarra (LTC), together with Preschool Education major Theresea Anjhona Mae Gorospe (independent) will compete in the secretarial race.
Gunning for the position of auditor are Industrial Engineering student Aston Estorpe (Lakasdiwa) and Accountancy student Richard Lynus Javier (LTC).
