A TOTAL of 41,554 students enrolled in UST for the first term of the academic year 2023-2024, lower by nearly 5% than the 43,631 enrollees in the same period last year, according to data from the Office of the Registrar.
Of this figure, 34,569 enrolled in various faculties, colleges, institutes and the graduate school, data obtained by The Flame showed. There were 6,985 enrollees in high school and senior high school, collectively known as basic education.
The number of enrollees in the Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) reached 3,600, more than a third or 1,254 of them freshmen. The faculty had 769 sophomores, 752 juniors and 825 seniors.
Among the AB programs, communication had the most number of enrollees this term with 567. Of these students, 188 are freshmen; 112 are sophomores; 121 are juniors; and 146 are seniors. Four students of the old communication arts program enrolled this term, three of them are in their senior year and one in the junior year.
The political science program had 487 enrollees, 190 of them freshmen, 112 are sophomores, 102 are juniors and 83 are seniors. A total of 462 students enrolled in the behavioral science program, composed of 126 freshmen, 110 sophomores, 103 juniors and 123 seniors.
The legal management program recorded 394 enrollees: 189 freshmen, 74 sophomores, 63 juniors and 68 seniors. The journalism program posted 333 enrollees, 107 are freshmen; 67 are sophomores; 76 are juniors; and 83 are seniors.
The philosophy program logged 229 enrollees consisting of 88 freshmen, 37 sophomores, 44 juniors and 60 seniors. The number of students in the economics program reached 222, 88 are freshmen, 45 are sophomores, 54 are juniors and 35 are seniors.
The Asian studies program had 218 enrollees, 67 of them are freshmen, 38 are sophomores, 47 are juniors and 66 are seniors. A total of 202 creative writing students enrolled this term, 60 of them freshmen, 55 are sophomores, 44 are juniors and 43 are seniors.
The English language studies program attracted 131 enrollees composed of 42 freshmen, 35 sophomores, 22 juniors and 32 seniors. The sociology program had 135 students, 43 of them freshmen; 32 are sophomores; 26 are juniors and 34 are seniors.
The history program had 115 enrollees, composed of 37 freshmen, 34 sophomores, 22 juniors and 22 seniors. The literature program recorded 101 enrollees broken down as follows: 29 freshmen, 18 sophomores, 27 juniors and 27 seniors.
The Faculty of Engineering recorded the most number of enrollees this term with 4,239.
