THE UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas (UST) has opened Grammarly for Education to every enrolled student, the Educational Technology Center announced on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
In a Facebook post, the center said Thomasians may activate their premium subscription by accepting the invitation they received in their university emails and signing in with their GSuite accounts. The invitation will expire after 30 days.
This is the first time the University offered the premium version of the typing assistant tool to students for free.
In 2020, the UST Miguel de Benavides Library offered Grammarly’s premium services only to faculty members and graduate students due to limited account subscriptions. A year later, the UST Library offered 1,500 Grammarly premium accounts to undergraduate students on a first-come first-serve basis.
Grammarly is a digital writing assistance tool that reviews grammatical mistakes and sentence construction. It also offers plagiarism detection and replacement suggestions for identified errors. F – C.K. Adzuara
