THE UST Research Center for Social Sciences Education (RCSSED) has emerged as one of the country’s outstanding institutions recognized through the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) for its contribution to the growth of basic sciences, humanities and arts.
RCSSED won the Outstanding Institution Award under Cluster 1, according to NRCP’s letter dated Feb. 1 published on the official Facebook page of the UST research center.
Founded in 2017 to seek social transformation through its respective disciplines, RCSSED comprises research interest groups focused on business studies, Church and social issues, community-engaged studies, education and leadership studies, language and literacy studies, life course research, psychology studies, politics and public policy, sustainability studies, social health studies and tourism studies.
UST also houses research centers for natural and applied sciences; culture, arts and humanities; and health sciences. Only the RCSSED made an announcement on obtaining a title from NRCP as of Feb. 1.
The awarding ceremony will take place on March 12 during the NRCP Annual Scientific Conference and 91st General Membership Assembly.
Other awards honoring the excellence of researchers and institutions are the NRCP Achievement Award, Member Emeritus and Service Award, according to the council’s website.
Established in 1933, the NRCP is a government advisory body composed of researchers, scientists, engineers and technologists in different scientific fields. It operates as an attached agency to the Department of Science and Technology.F
