Tiger Media Network reaps 5 plums in int’l broadcasting tilt

UST BROADCASTING arm Tiger Media Network (TMN) won five awards at the 84th Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s (IBS) College Media Conference in New York City, United States.

TMN’s e-radio branch, UST Tiger Radio, was hailed the best online radio station for the third consecutive time on Saturday, March 2.

“Grand Yellow Day: Wear Your Best Yellow Campaign” by UST Tiger TV, also a branch of the University’s broadcasting arm, emerged as the best social media campaign.

Communication seniors Paolo Alejandrino and Maria Angela Lamsen bagged the best promotions director and best social media director, respectively, for the television section.

Fourth-year marketing management student Angelica Cherie Mendoza was named the best business director award for television.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Mar. 3, TMN described its feat as a “triumphant display of media prowess” and a demonstration of the “University’s commitment to media excellence on a global stage.”

TMN was nominated for six other categories, namely, best on-air personality and business director for Tiger Radio and best student station manager, best sports director, best creative services director and best television station for Tiger TV.

One Air Productions, a production house of the communication program, was nominated for best use of graphics for “Tiger Score,” an online television segment featuring various Thomasians battling in an “all-things-sports” game.

Among those that participated in the media conference were United States institutions Seattle University, Indiana University, New York University and the University of Tennessee at Martin.

The IBS is an 82-year-old all-volunteer organization that supports and promotes high school and college media outlets. F – with reports from Bianca Ysabel Abrencillo
