THE PARISH priest of the Santisimo Rosario Parish is ending his term after six years of serving the Thomasian community.

Fr. Paul Reagan Talavera, O.P., the 15th parish priest of UST’s religious sanctuary, said he would be assigned to Gibraltar after the Dominican Province of the Philippines was invited to form a religious community in the area.

“We also hope to serve the diocese by giving formation among both the clergy and laity and to serve our Filipino community there,” Talavera told The Flame.

Talavera was installed as Santisimo Rosario parish priest by Archdiocese of Manila Vicar General Msgr. Jose Clemente Ignacio in June 2019. He was reelected to a second term in August 2022.

Talavera finished his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy at the Philippine Dominican Center for Institutional Studies in 2004 and master’s degree in Theology at the University of Santo Tomas in 2007. He obtained a master’s degree in Counseling from De La Salle University in 2010.

Talavera served as assistant treasurer of Santo Domingo Parish in Quezon City for two years before he was appointed as formator of aspirants and assistant parish priest of Redemptor Mundi Parish in Surabaya, Indonesia from 2011 to 2012.

Talavera also assumed major posts in other institutions, including Angelicum School in Iloilo City, where he served as its treasurer and guidance counselor and later its principal and prefect of discipline. He also worked as regional treasurer of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines and secretary of the Association of Religious Men in the Archdiocese of Jaro.

Talavera was ordained to the priesthood by former Balanga bishop Ruperto Santos in August 2011. He professed as a Dominican at the Memorial of St. Antoninus of Florence in Pangasinan in 2002. F
