UST facilities management chief, two other Dominican priests appointed to Santisimo Rosario Parish

THREE DOMINICAN priests have been appointed to the Santisimo Rosario Parish to assist in performing pastoral duties and to serve the Thomasian community.

Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula has appointed UST Facilities Management Office director Fr. Dexter Austria, O.P. and Indonesian Dominican Fr. Tommy Riezky Tiyanto, O.P. as attached priests, while Fr. Art Vincent Pangan, O.P. of the Priory of St. Thomas Aquinas has been named parochial vicar.

The three Dominican priests were appointed last June 21 and are tasked to assist parish priest Fr. Glen Mar Gamboa, O.P. for three years, the Santísimo Rosario Parish announced in a Facebook post on June 28.

They are expected to help perform spiritual leadership and pastoral care roles, including celebrating mass, administering sacraments such as baptism and marriage, providing spiritual guidance, engaging in community outreach and managing parish affairs and events.

Austria, an assistant professor of the UST Faculty of Sacred Theology, earned his doctorate degree in Sacred Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in 2016 in Rome, Italy. He finished his Licentiate in Sacred Theology and Master of Arts in Theology from UST in 2011 magna cum laude.

Tiyanto serves as the UST Central Seminary’s spiritual director after entering priesthood in February this year.

Pangan, an instructor of the Faculty of Sacred Theology, will serve as Gamboa’s lead assistant in carrying out the sacraments. The incoming parochial vicar was also the priest who led the homily during the installation of Gamboa as the 16th parish priest of UST’s religious sanctuary on May 24. F
