EIGHT NEW officials have been designated to UST Manila’s administrative offices and academic units, the Office of the Secretary General (OSG) announced.

Half of the newly named officials will be administrators, while the remaining four will handle posts under the University’s different faculties and colleges, according to an OSG circular dated July 31.

Asst. Prof. Eleighn Castro was appointed as the assistant director of the Office for Student Affairs (OSA).

She replaced Asst. Prof. Regina Arriero, the deputy chief of the OSA when the TomasinoWeb 7-Eleven photo controversy erupted. The issue triggered calls to reform the policies on UST student organizations and to ensure the independence of the campus press.

Castro is a faculty member of the Human Resource Management department under the UST College of Commerce and Business Administration.

Two officials were also assigned to posts under the Office of the Vice Rector for Finance (OVRF) and the Office of the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs (OVRAA).

Brenda Cabile was named officer-in-charge of the Financial Planning and Business Development Division under the OVRF, while Asst. Prof. Charmaine Ponay was designated OVRAA executive assistant.

Nicko Montallana, a UST alumnus, was appointed officer-in-charge and in-house architect of the University’s Facilities Management Office.

Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Myra De Leon will serve as the new chair of the College of Education’s Filipino department.

Fr. Christopher Garinganao, O.P., who served as the acting dean of the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Philosophy, will now serve as its dean.

Cluster coordinator Asst. Prof. Anjillyn Perez will be the College of Architecture’s new secretary, while Fr. Romulo Rodriguez, O.P., was assigned as the prefect of student priests at the UST Central Seminary. F
