FOOD CONCESSIONAIRES that vacated the UST Carpark for its rehabilitation will soon return to the facility alongside new tenants, the Facilities Management Office (FMO) said.

Tenants who left their spots in the parking space will be allowed to continue their operations inside the area under a new contract with the University, according to FMO director Fr. Dexter Austria.

“Food concessionaires will continue to operate, subject to the execution of a new contract with UST,” Austria told The Flame.

He added that the specifics of their reentry, including the timeline and contract details, would depend on the FMO’s meeting with the concessionaires on Nov. 18.

The previous food concessionaires would reopen ahead of new ones, which are expected to come after the three-to-four-month structural investigation, Austria said.

“The investigation is still ongoing. For now, all activities will be limited to rehabilitation efforts,” he added.

The building’s parking operations, which is now handled by its new operator FLEXIT Mobility Solutions Inc. (FMSI), will continue as inspections on the facility’s electrical and mechanical systems are underway. The FMSI also now oversees the facility’s maintenance, along with the 24/7 security services in the area. The management of the parking space was transferred to the company after the University’s contract with the Selegna Holdings Corp. ended.

Part of the FMI’s proposals is the approved and finalized matrix for overnight parking, which charges P1,000 on top of the regular rates for customers who stay between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Exceptions and flexibilities are still under discussion with the FMO and UST Hospital, according to FMI CEO Charles Deita.

Overnight parking was previously priced at P50, including P15 for succeeding hours, for entries from 6:00 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Apart from the P1,000 charge, FMI has also implemented a night parking fee starting at 6:00 p.m., which costs P50 for the first two hours plus P15 for succeeding hours.

The company retained the previous rates for regular parking, priced at P40 for the first two hours for ordinary customers and four hours for students, both with P15 for every succeeding hour.

In a memorandum dated Oct. 16, tenants of the carpark were directed by UST to settle their dues and vacate the parking space on or before Nov. 14 to give way for the area’s rehabilitation. F
