UST WILL host the upcoming ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) International Conference 2026, which will gather experts to tackle strategies for excellence and resilience in higher education institutions in the region.
The España university’s hosting will coincide with the Philippines’ chairmanship of the ASEAN.
“UST has been named as the next host of the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) International Conference 2026, in conjunction with the country’s chairmanship of the ASEAN next year,” the University said in a Facebook post on Nov. 7.
The chairmanship, which will officially begin on Jan. 1 next year, gives the country the responsibility to organize and lead ASEAN meetings, summits and initiatives.
UST’s designation as host of the AUN-QA conference was accepted by Assistant to the Rector for Planning and Quality Management Prof. Clarita Carillo.
The University became the first associate member of AUN-QA to receive an institutional certificate in 2019. Eighteen of its undergraduate programs have been accredited so far.
Last October, UST underwent the AUN-QA’s institutional assessment, which evaluates the strategic, functional and systemic aspects of quality assurance.
The assessment, which involved facility inspections and interviews with stakeholders, was conducted by eight experts from five Asian countries. It ran from Oct. 6 to 10. F
