
TWELVE NEW administrative and academic unit officials have been designated at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Manila campus, the Office of the Secretary-General (OSG) announced.
Of the newly appointed officials, six were assigned to administrative offices, while the remaining half were designated to academic units, according to an OSG circular dated Jan. 1.
Thomasian graduate and instructor Jonah Anne Casillan was assigned as project manager of the Facilities Management Office.
Casillan, who finished her Civil Engineering degree in 2018 and Management Engineering master’s degree in 2025, both at UST, is also a member of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers.
Asst. Prof. Francis Lawrence de Jesus was appointed as the acting director of the Human Resource Department, with lawyer Asst. Prof. Selenne Anne Leynes named assistant director of the same office.
De Jesus previously served as assistant dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration and has chaired the Department of Marketing Management under the same college.
Leynes is a tenured faculty member in the Department of English and has her own law office.
Meanwhile, the Center for Continuing Professional Education and Development will have Prof. Ma. Frieda Hapan as its new director.
Hapan, who has been recognized for professional achievements in medical technology and academic leadership, has served as assistant dean in the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Artlets alumna Jarodelyn Mabalot, who is a UST Civil Law and Legal Management graduate, was designated as legal coordinator.
Mabalot is also a practicing lawyer at DivinaLaw.
Assoc. Prof. Angelie Bautista, a faculty member in the Department of Psychology in the College of Science, was appointed acting director of the Counseling and Career Center.
Recognized in the field of physical therapy, Prof. Donald Manlapaz was named acting dean of the College of Rehabilitation Sciences.
Fr. Quirico Pedregosa, Jr., O.P., former rector of the UST Central Seminary from 2012 to 2024, was appointed acting regent of the College of Science.
Assoc. Prof. Rodel Canlas was designated as the University-level department chair of the Department of Psychology. He is part of the Association of Sports and Exercise Psychologists of the Philippines and the Psychological Association of the Philippines.
Assoc. Prof. Marie Antoinette Rosete, who previously served as college secretary, was appointed assistant dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration. Meanwhile, instructor Michelle Ivanne Avila will be replacing Rosete as college secretary.
Edmund Tucay was also designated secretary of the College of Information and Computing Sciences.
The OSG extended its well wishes to the newly appointed officials as they assume leadership of their respective units, thanking their predecessors for their service. F
