
THE UNIVERSITY’S broadcasting arm Tiger Media Network (TMN) and Communication students bagged three accolades in the 2025-2026 Intercollegiate Broadcasting System College (IBS) Awards, which recognizes outstanding high school and college media outlets.
Communication senior Ofelia Valmocina won the Best Business Director, Television Award, while junior Cassandra Tumala secured the Best Creative Services Director, Television Award.
Communication senior Aneika Bautista bagged Best Use of Graphics for “The Hex: Mind over Matter,” an episode under the department’s Line One, a student-led production house formed for a requirement in a TV production course.
“UST Tiger Media Network proudly celebrates its outstanding achievements at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System College Media Awards in New York,” UST Tiger TV, a branch of the broadcasting arm, said in a Facebook post on Feb. 22.
“Our dedicated volunteers and programs have earned prestigious awards and finalist recognitions, reflecting our continued commitment to excellence in collegiate broadcasting.”
The network received fewer accolades at IBS this year. It won five plums previously.
TMN secured the award for Best Variety Program, while its branch, UST Tiger TV, won Best Use of Graphics.
Members of the network were also recognized as the best promotional director, best social media director and the best business director.
Several United States academic institutions took part in the contest, including Central Washington University, Western Michigan University, the University of Kansas and Arizona State University. F
