THE UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas (UST) won its 46th and sixth consecutive title as overall champions in the UAAP.
The University was declared UAAP Season 85 overall champion during the league’s closing ceremony last Saturday, May 27, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
It harvested a total of 336 points from nine titles, including the men’s and women’s beach volleyball, women’s taekwondo, men’s judo, men’s tennis, men’s table tennis, men’s chess, women’s athletics, and women’s 3×3 basketball.
Thomasian teams also bagged first-place in the junior and senior divisions of the UAAP Season 85 street dance competition last Saturday.
De La Salle University ranked second with 279 points, while the University of the Philippines completed the podium of the college division with 260 points.
This year’s championship could have been the sixth straight double championship for UST. However, there was no UAAP Season juniors’ division from 2020 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the juniors’ division, the Tiger Cubs led the way with 217 points, followed by De La-Salle Zobel with 149 and Far Eastern University – Diliman with 134 points.
Also during the closing ceremony, UAAP Season 85 host Adamson University passed the torch to the University of the East as the next host of the collegiate league. F – Mari Ymanuel Roxas and Aljon Danniell Eguia
