THE UST Female Tracksters claimed the third spot in the women’s category of the UAAP Season 86 athletics tournament on Sunday, Nov. 26.

Compared to last season where they topped the league with 258 points, UST only tallied 235 points during the five-day tournament at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

They are behind the season champion De La Salle University’s 301 points and runner-up Far Eastern University’s 268 points.

Season 85 Girl’s Most Valuable Player Jeanne Arnibal took home the Rookie of the Year award in the women’s category this season, copping four medals in different events.

The rookie seized two golds from a 4,195 points in the heptathlon event and 12.28 meters in the triple jump event. She also bagged a silver and bronze in the high jump event and 100-meter hurdles event, respectively.

“As what my coaches told me, ‘even though you are a rookie, your contribution is not just that of a rookie.’ That gave me pressure,” Arnibal told The Flame.

“This medal is for UST and my coaches. I want to thank my coaches for guiding me, encouraging me, and teaching me.”

The Female Tracksters capped the season with a 6-3-4 medal haul.

Meanwhile, the Male Tracksters settled in the sixth spot with only 148 points, bagging a 3-1-1 gold-silver-bronze tally. F
