THE UST Lady Booters extended their losing streak to three games, faltering to the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 1-0, in the UAAP Season 87 women’s football tournament on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the UP Football Pitch.
UST remained at the bottom of the standings with a 0-3 slate. Meanwhile, Ateneo improved to a 1-3 win-loss record.
Blue Eagle’s winger Angely Alferez hit the decisive strike in the 37th minute, putting the Lady Booters on the back foot for the remainder of the match.
Despite solid runs from UST striker Rica Gerona, turnovers derailed her team’s attacking momentum.
The match heated up in the second half when Lady Booter Gleydile Añonuevo received a yellow card after an aggressive tackle.
The Lady Booters will aim to close out the first round with a victory as they face last season’s bronze medalists UP Fighting Maroons on Oct. 30, Wednesday, at the same venue. F
