THE UST Lady Booters opened the second round with a draw against the top-seeded DLSU Green Booters, 2-2, in the UAAP Season 87 women’s football tournament on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the UP Diliman Football Field.
It was UST’s Gleydile Añonuevo who delivered the dramatic equalizer in the 83rd minute to end the match in a stalemate.
DLSU remained on top of the standings with 11 points and a plus-5 goal difference, while UST is still at the bottom with two points and a minus-4 GD.
The first half saw little action, as it took over an hour to get on the scoreboard courtesy of a goal from DLSU’s Arantxa Trebol in the 63rd minute, 1-0.
The España squad, however, kicked into its groove as substitute Rojana Nemenzo struck a goal at the 73rd minute to tie the match at 1-all.
Last season’s finalist DLSU then reclaimed control after immediately retaliating with a goal from Shai del Campo in the 78th minute, 2-1.
Both teams came off 1-1 draws to finish off the first round.
UST will try to win its first game when they face the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the same venue. F – Joshua Sumanghid
