GROWLING TIGRESS star Kent Pastrana made the final cut for the Gilas Pilipinas Women as the team gears up for the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup in Shenzhen, China, from July 13 to 20.

Pastrana was listed among the 12-woman lineup named by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) in a social media post on July 8, Tuesday.

The roster is made up of fellow UAAP standouts including Season 87 MVP Kacey dela Rosa from Ateneo, UP’s Louna Ozar and the NU duo of Cielo Pagdulangan and Angel Surada.

Also joining the squad are Ella Fajardo, Sumayah Sugapong, Jack Animam, Naomi Panganiban, Khate Castillo, Yvette Villanueva and naturalized player Vanessa de Jesus.

Coming off another Mythical Five nod in the UAAP Season 87, Pastrana will look to add firepower and fill the void left by national team veterans Afril Bernardino, Janine Pontejos and France Cabinbin.

Gilas Women struggled in its 2025 Women’s Jones Cup campaign, finishing fifth out of the six teams with a 1-4 win-loss slate. Its lone victory came against Thailand with a 83-66 beatdown.

Placed in Group B, Gilas will face tough contenders Australia, Japan and Lebanon.

The team must secure at least a sixth-place finish to qualify for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Germany. F – Johann Paulus Coronel
