THE UST Growling Tigresses will be without their head coach Haydee Ong in their next match after she was slapped with a one-game suspension for incurring two technical fouls in the UAAP Season 88 women’s basketball tournament.

Ong will sit out the Tigresses’ matchup against the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum, where the España squad can secure a twice-to-beat advantage.

During their 125-50 blowout victory against the UE Lady Warriors on Nov. 12, Ong was handed her second technical foul of Season 88 for continuously complaining to the referees, prompting the automatic suspension.

The veteran tactician was handed her first technical foul back in Round 1 during the Tigresses’ 75-66 victory against Ateneo on Oct. 12.

Assistant coach Ged Austria will lead the coaching for the Tigresses when they face the Katipunan squad.

Austria also coached the Tigresses during the offseason at the Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL), where UST secured a second-place finish.

The Tigresses remain unbeaten this season, standing tall in first place with a perfect 11-0 record with three games left in the elimination round. F
