THE UNIVERSITY Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) has encouraged spectators to wear white at the upcoming Season 88 Cheerdance Competition as part of its anti-corruption advocacy campaign.

The initiative aligns with the league’s theme “Passion for Victory, Passion for Integrity! No to Corruption!,” which calls for accountability against corruption.

“The UAAP Cheerdance Competition is not only a showcase of skill and teamwork, but also a platform to inspire values-driven action,” UAAP Season 88 president Fr. Rodel Cansancio O.P. said during a press conference last Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The league’s appeal to wear white is also in solidarity with the call of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines for the public to don white as a collective stance to fight corruption and promote accountability.

”We hope that this initiative encourages everyone in our community to stand together in integrity and hope,” the UST Institute of Physical Education and Athletics director added.

UAAP also implemented a new performance-order scheme, in which the sequence of routines will follow the league’s season-hosting rotation.

The UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe is set to close the competition with a Halloween-inspired performance. The squad, which finished fifth last season, last captured the championship in 2006.

The UAAP Season 88 Cheerdance Competition will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Mall of Asia Arena. F
