UST Female Tracksters keep silver streak in UAAP athletics

THE UST Female Tracksters concluded their UAAP Season 88 athletics campaign with another silver finish on Sunday, November 9, at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac

Over the four-day tilt, the UST women took home four golds, three silvers and three bronzes for 242 points.

Azeneth Serat defended her 5,000-meter race walk title and shattered a 16-year-old UAAP record with a time of 26:04.63. 

Lianne Pama clocked 11.82 seconds to take the gold in the 100m dash, while Jeanne Arnibal added a silver in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m.

On Day 2, UST added three more medals as Pama captured her second gold in the 200m at 24.39 seconds. Khrizzie Ruzol also clinched gold in the pole vault. 

Rea Rafanan earned silver in the heptathlon, while Jeanne Arnibal also captured bronze in the triple jump with 12.08m.

The Female Tracksters continued their medal haul on the third day, bagging one gold, two silvers and two bronzes on Day 3.

Asia Paraasee clinched the bronze medal, taking the 10,000m run with a time of 39.57.01. Serat secured her second gold of the season in the 3,000m race walk to break her own record with a time of 14.45.54.

Lyka Miravelles secured the lone silver for the Female Tracksters on the final day, clocking 14.66 seconds in the 100m hurdles.

On the men’s side, the Male Tracksters amassed five golds, three silvers and two bronzes for 205 points, but it was not enough to secure a podium finish.

Hokett delos Santos capped his stellar campaign after being named Season 88 men’s co-MVP, sharing the honor with Ateneo’s Russel Ricaforte after collecting two golds, one silver and one bronze.

The Tiger Trackskters opened their season strong by collecting six medals on the opening day.

Delos Santos led a UST podium sweep by clearing 4.50m to top the men’s event. Mejen Sumbongan and Sean Harry Narag completed the sweep with marks of 4.30m and 4.20m, respectively. 

John Paul Araneta captured back-to-back gold in the 100m dash with a 10.84 record. John Allen Bution ruled the Javelin Throw after recording 59.65m.

On the final day, the men’s team brought home two golds, two silvers and a bronze. 

The quartet of Delos Santos, Jasper Obanon, Sean Harry Narag and Gerald Casimiro clocked 3:20.80 in the 4×400m relay to capture bronze. Delos Santos also won gold in the 110m hurdles at 14.80 seconds.

In the hammer throw, John Laurenze Ballelos and John Nicholan Pangan delivered a gold-silver finish with throws of 47.33m and 43.51m. – Francia Migyel Violeta
