TWO-TIME UAAP men’s beach volleyball Most Valuable Player Alche Gupiteo is taking the next step in his career, signing with the reigning Spikers’ Turf champions Criss Cross King Crunchers, the team announced in a social media post on Sunday, January 18.
Gupiteo carved out an illustrious collegiate career on the sand, emerging as one of UST’s cornerstones in beach volleyball. He won three UAAP titles and earned MVP honors in Seasons 86 and 88.
He most recently helped the Tiger Sands clinch their historic seventh consecutive UAAP men’s beach volleyball championship in Season 88, capping his final year with a flawless 9-0 campaign.
Prior to closing his UAAP beach volleyball stint, he suited up for the Golden Spikers in Season 87 and contributed in the team’s bronze medal finish. After the elimination round, he ranked 48th in scoring with 41 points on 35 attack points and six blocks.
With his signing, Gupiteo is no longer expected to return to UST’s indoor program for Season 88, having already concluded his collegiate career with another title run.
The 6-foot-2 open hitter will reunite with former UST teammate Popoy Colinares whom he played alongside in Season 87. Colinares signed with the King Krunchers in June 2025 following his graduation that month. F
