INCUMBENT AND aspiring Artlets Student Council (ABSC) officials and a campaign manager are facing complaints of election offenses and campaign misconduct over some of their actions during the student council polls.
In a memorandum issued on Sunday, April 2, the Faculty of Arts and Letters Commission on Elections (AB Comelec) detailed the allegations of "campaign violations, election offenses, and other misconduct related to the election process,” against DEKADA candidates, DEKADA campaign manager Hanielle Garcia, secretary aspirant Gabriel Gabrillo and the incumbent ABSC officers.

TWO UNOPPOSED candidates’ grasp of political and social issues were tested as they engaged in a fierce Miting de Avance for the 2021 Artlets Student Council (ABSC) special polls last Tuesday.
Candidate for president and political science sophomore Denzelle Jude Caro’s stance on student activism in AB was questioned by students who pointed out how the ABSC was formed during the Marcos dictatorship.
He said he was against activism in AB and that there are other platforms to express it.
“Every channel is blocked because of the pandemic. In your student activism, currently, you are individualistic rather than collective. Right now, there are differences and vulnerabilities that we have to consider,” Caro said.

THE PRIMARY plaintiff and author of the impeachment complaint against Artlets Student Council (ABSC) President Rafael Arellano urged Artlets in favor of the complaint to speak out.
Asian studies senior Moses Rivera submitted a letter to the Board of Majors (BOM) last Mar. 21 seeking to impeach Arellano for his alleged “incompetence” and “gross negligence of duties.”

THE POSITIONS of Vice President (VP)-Internal and Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Artlets Student Council (ABSC) will be declared permanently vacant until the next general elections should the third filing for special elections fail, said the Board of Majors (BOM).
In a resolution released Wednesday, the BOM declared the VP-Internal and PRO posts temporarily vacant following the resignation of former VP-Internal Anika Imperial who stepped down for medical reasons on Oct. 25.
