AB Volleyball teams wiped out in Goodwill quarters

By ANGEL B. DUKHA III THE Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) Women's and Men's Volleyball teams were wiped out in the quarterfinals of the Thomasian Goodwill Games on Wednesday. AB Women's went home with two losses, 23-25 and 21-25, against the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM). Both teams refused to give their opponent a huge advantage in the first set. AB managed to stay in the game despite the spiking arsenal of CTHM which left AB's score nailed at 9 points, 9-10 and 9-13. CTHM ran a series that again pinned AB's score at 19-21. Despite AB's strong defenses, CTHM prevailed, 25-23. The second frame began neck and neck but CTHM's consecutive errors allowed AB to take the lead, 10-5. ARUCAN The Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) Women’s Volleyball Team secured a spot in the quarter finals of the Thomasian Goodwill Games after defeating the College of Architecture (Arki), 25-15 and 26-24. AB swiftly left Arki in the dust from 15-14 to a crushing 25-15 by stepping up their defenses in the first frame. The second frame began neck and neck, 10-10, with multiple service errors from both sides. Miscommunication among AB allowed Arki to briefly hold the lead, 16-13, but AB stayed close behind until a standoff at 21-21. AB overtook Arki, 23-22, after a blinding ace by Francette Flores. GIANAN THE Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) Women’s Volleyball Team bested the College of Science (Science) on Thursday, avenging a narrow loss to the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) on Wednesday. AB seized both sets of the game against Science, ending the match at 25-13 and 25-21, respectively. Consistent attacks from AB Team Captain Arnica Ordoñez led the team to consequent runs in the first set, seizing the lead with a 10-point margin. Frequent errors from Science prevented them from closing the gap.
