Thomasians reminisce, move forward during return of onsite Paskuhan

AFTER A two-year halt, thousands of Thomasians flocked to the University last Dec. 19 for the return of the onsite Paskuhan in an event that saw them going back to old ways while moving forward from the anxiety-filled episodes of the pandemic. A total of 51,845 Thomasians gathered in UST to experience the much-awaited Paskuhan festivities which carried the theme “Pananabik, Pagbabalik, Panunumbalik (longing, return, restoration).” While there were noticeable changes this year — people were wearing face masks, ‘one-entry, one-exit’ and ‘no ID, no QR code, no entry’ policies were imposed, outsiders were not allowed — some elements — long queues in entrances, the afternoon mass, stalls selling aromatic and greasy food, rowdy young people in yellow shirts snapping photos of thems...

Paskuhan 2022 concert stage to showcase three Thomasian bands

Illumina, LUCY, and Sean Archer obtained the highest scores among the six contenders for Tunog Tomasino 2022: Stellaris Bound, which was held last Monday, Dec. 5. Illumina said that they were already eyeing to perform in the Paskuhan concert since 2019 but the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the concert to be held online. “One of our main goals as student-musicians is to set foot on the grandstand and perform in the biggest event of our beloved UST. The microphones were plugged in and the instruments were tuned.  Tunog Tomasino 2022: Stellaris Bound is now on cue. The scene in the Buenaventura Garcia Paredes O.P. building (BGPOP) last December 5 instilled a mix of euphoria, suspense, and hope as six Thomasian bands competed live in the first battle of the bands of the annual Tunog Tomasino event.  The audience cheered and sang along through TOMCAT-UST’s official Facebook page—virtually.  Tunog Tomasino’s core concept is to rekindle Original Pinoy Music (OPM) and poetry in the hearts of the Thomasian community and give an additional platform for talented artists to share their skills and craft.
