
UST FACULTY of Arts and Letters secretary Asst. Prof. Louie Benedict Ignacio has been appointed as the new section chair for political science and public administration of the National Research Council of the Philippines, an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The governing board confirmed the appointment at its regular meeting held on May 26, 2026.
As the section chair, Ignacio will lead research initiatives, academic collaborations and policy recommendations in political science and governance. His term will last until March 31, 2028.
Ignacio has been the faculty secretary of AB since January 2024. He previously served as chair of the UST Sociology department and Political Science department in the academic years 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, respectively.
He finished his undergraduate degree in Political Science at UST in 2006. He later obtained his master’s degree in Sociology from Ateneo de Manila University. The faculty secretary earned his doctorate degree in Philosophy at the University, with a focus on urban governance.
Before his stint at UST, Ignacio worked at Colegio de San Juan de Letran for almost 14 years, where he held several positions, including dean of student affairs and faculty member. F
