AN ECONOMICS alumna has been appointed associate justice of the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA), a special Philippine court that specializes in tax-related cases, including major tax crimes and collection disputes.
The appointment of lawyer and former Department of Education (DepEd) undersecretary Debbie Jean Centeno-Dijamco was announced by the Presidential Communications Office on its official website on Wednesday, July 29.
She took her oath before President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on the same day.
Dijamco earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Santo Tomas in 1995 and obtained her law degree from San Beda College in 1999.
The Artlets alumna worked as a tax and corporate lawyer at Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co from 1999 to 2010. She later served as the head of the judicial staff of the tax appeals court from 2013 to 2025 and as a court lawyer at a regional trial court from 2011 to 2013.
Before her appointment, Dijamco served as DepEd undersecretary from 2025 to 2026. F
