TWENTY-THREE PROFESSORS and researchers from the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB) were conferred the Cardinal Ceferino Gonzales Award for Indexed Publications, a distinction given annually to University scholars whose studies have been published in renowned academic journals.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, July 30, AB honored its faculty members for their research productivity over the past academic year.
“Huge congratulations to the 23 faculty members and researchers from the Faculty of Arts and Letters and University Research Centers on receiving the Ceferino Gonzales Award for Indexed Publications (AY 2024-2025),” the post read.
Of the published researchers, 10 were from the Philosophy department, five were from the English department, three were from the Journalism department and two researchers each were from the Communication and Behavioral Science department, one of whom is affiliated with the Communication and Literature department. One researcher came from the Economics department.
Among the awardees was former AB dean Prof. Marilu Madrunio of the English department, who retired from the University this year.
English Department Assistant. Prof. Katrina Topacio, the officer-in-charge of the UST Research Center for Social Sciences and Education and Prof. Jeremaiah Opiniano, chair of the Journalism department, also received awards.
Other faculty members who were feted for their research were Prof. Alejandro Bernardo, Prof. Veronico Tarrayo and Assoc. Prof. Pia Tenedero of the English department; and Economics department chair Prof. Alain Santos. All of them are members of the Research Center for Social Sciences and Education or RCSSED.
Several scholars of the Research Center for Culture, Arts and Humanities (RCCAH) were also recognized, including its director Asst. Prof. Anton Rennesland.
Other RCCAH researchers who received recognition were Philosophy department chair Prof. Marella Bolaños and faculty members Cathlyne Abarejo, Zhea Estrada, Paula Eugenio, Prof. Paolo Bolaños and Prof. Raniel Reyes of the Philosophy department; Nathaniel Melican and Asst. Prof. Felipe Salvosa of the Journalism department; and Asst. Prof. Ronnie Pangan of the Communication department.
Awardees who belong to the Research Center for Theology Religious Studies and Ethics were Prof. Jove Aguas, Prof. Jovito Cariño and Asst. Prof. Levine Lao of the Philosophy department; and Prof. Joyce Arriola of the Communications department.
Behavioral Science department chair Asst. Prof. Gian Ledesma and faculty member Vincent Tajor were also given awards. F
