Three Artlets alumni elected officers of Malacañang Press Corps

THREE ALUMNI of the UST Journalism program have been elected officers of the Malacañang Press Corps (MPC), a group of reporters accredited to cover the Philippine presidency.

The officers were elected last Aug. 12.

Jocelyn Montemayor-Reyes of Malaya Business Insight and Alexis Romero of The Philippine Star were re-elected as MPC vice president for print and public relations officer, respectively.

Reyes is a former president of the MPC who writes political and lifestyle stories. She has covered five administrations, making her one of the most seasoned journalists in the Palace beat.

Romero finished both his Journalism bachelor’s and master’s degrees in UST. He also serves as an instructor of the Journalism department and adviser of The Flame, the official student publication of the Faculty of Arts and Letters.

Evelyn Quiroz of Pilipino Mirror was elected MPC auditor.

Also a former MPC president, Quiroz finished her Journalism degree in 1985. She is also the president of the Association of Philippine Journalists – Samahang Plaridel.

Other reporters who have been elected MPC officers were Ivan Mayrina of GMA 7 (president); Chona Yu of DZRJ (vice president for radio); Maricel Halili-Gahol of TV5 (vice president for TV); Julie Baiza (vice president for online); Ivy Reyes of Bilyonaryo (secretary); Leonilet Narciso of DZRH (treasurer); Jonnel Maribojoc of UNTV and Maricar Sargan of Brigada News FM (sergeants-at-arms).
