THE UST Golden Tigresses made quick work of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Lady Knights, sweeping their way to a 25-21, 25-19, 25-19 victory on Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Gameville Central Park.

Rookie libero Niña Robles earned Player of the Game honors after tallying 10 excellent digs, while Angge Poyos returned to action for the Tigresses.

UST weathered a push-and-pull opening set before capitalizing on Letran’s costly errors to take the opener, 25-21.

Errors continued to plague the Intramuros-based squad in the second set as the Tigresses uncorked a 9-4 run midway through the frame to seize control, 20-14, before closing it out, 25-19.

The España-based squad picked up where it left off in the third, mounting another 9-4 burst to stretch its advantage to 20-14.

A drop from Poyos followed by back-to-back points from Ashlee Knop sealed the sweep and UST’s third win of the tournament.

The Tigresses will look to strengthen their playoff push against the Adamson Lady Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the same venue. F
