
THE UST Growling Tigresses cruised past the Adamson Lady Falcons, 83-65, in the UAAP Season 89 women’s basketball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Philsports Arena.
Karylle Sierba tallied game-high 20 points and three rebounds, while Coi Danganan and Agatha Bron added 15 and 13 markers, respectively.
UST came out firing with a 17-5 blitz to seize a 23-15 advantage after the opening quarter.
Elaine Etang powered Adamson’s fightback with seven points, helping the Lady Falcons catch the Tigresses at 30-all midway through the second quarter as both teams traded physical plays.
Danganan had the final say before the break, burying a three-pointer at the buzzer to give UST a 44-36 halftime lead.
UST opened the third quarter with a 13-5 run to stretch its lead to 57-41 midway through the frame, capped by a Bridgette Santos trey.
The España-based squad maintained its double-digit cushion throughout the fourth quarter as Adamson struggled to keep pace with UST’s deep offense, with the bench accounting for 52 points.
Cheska Apag led the Lady Falcons notching 19 points, while Etang added 13 points.
UST will next face rival NU Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. F
