THE UST Lady Shuttlers faltered to the Adamson Lady Falcons, 1-4, in the second day of the UAAP Season 89 women’s badminton tournament on Sunday, Oct.18, at the Gameville Central Park.

The España-based squad remained winless, while Adamson notched their first win of the season.

UST opened the day with a victory in the first match, 16-21, 21-16, 21-11.

Despite Lady Falcon Key Aubrey Fuente claiming the first set, UST’s Hanie De Jesus bounced back in the following two sets, giving the Tigers a good start.

Unfortunately, the Tigers failed to sustain their momentum in the second singles match where Lady Shuttler Angelica Racca suffered a loss from Marriane Abbygail Barcelona of Adamson, 10-21, 7-21.

The Tigers captain duo of Marielle Alvarez and Gabrielle Ainza failed to clinch another match for España after battling through two close and intense sets with the Lady Falcons duo of Mary Destiny Untal and Jasmine Reformina, 18-21, 19-21.

The UST doubles team of Harlene Herbabuena and Tin Doroca almost secured a first set victory, but the duo fell short in the final two sets against Jennifer Andrea Ondol and Ma. Rheylyn Angela Pedron, 21-16, 10-21, 14-21.

Lady Shuttler Angelina Vitangcol’s singles game against Rosheila Quierez also ended in another defeat for the Tigers, 17-21, 13-21.

The Lady Shuttlers will face defending Ateneo Lady Eagles on Oct. 20 at the same venue. F
