THE UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas has launched a new career portal that offers third and fourth-year students access to internship and job opportunities, career events and professional networking.

Powered by software provider SeeMeSol, the career portal officially opened on Tuesday, Oct. 20, according to the UST Educational Technology Center (EDTECH).

SeeMeSol customer success executive Rosinie Tenajeros said the portal is exclusively designed for students to connect with verified employers and alumni. The platform features built-in tools and AI-powered resources to help Thomasians enhance their job profiles, she added.

“Our goal for you is to stand out… Thousands are already flooding [in] or applying for work… So, if your resume is generic, [it is] highly likely that it will be lost in the pile,” Tenajeros said during the portal’s orientation on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Criselda Pacquing, acting director of the Career Services and Placement Office (CSPO), said the UST career portal aims to make internships and employment more accessible to students.

“Many of you are already thinking about what comes after graduation. You may be preparing for internships, exploring career options, or looking for job opportunities. We understand that making these decisions can sometimes feel overwhelming,” Pacquing said.

AI assistance

The career portal features an AI assistant called SumarAI Suite, which operates on a credit-based system with free and paid options. It also allows users to record practice interviews, select an assessment framework and answer sample interview questions.

Through the AI feature, students can receive feedback on their practice interviews and access a verified pool of full-time, part-time, internship and volunteer opportunities. Thomasians may also create school-branded resumes using the platform’s AI-powered tools.

Also among the portal’s features are an application-tracking system and a training hub for automated skills certification, both of which are linked directly to student profiles. It also requires users to undergo a verification process to enhance data security, protect student privacy and maintain the integrity of the digital campus community.

The new career portal is entirely web-based, allowing users to access it from any device with an internet connection.

The initiative was irganized by the CSPO in partnership with the Office of Information and Communications Technology, the Office of Student Affairs, the Office of Alumni Relations and the Guidance and Counseling Center. F — Preeti Gemiene Galvez
