The UST Golden Booters settled for a goalless draw, 0-0, against the DLSU Green Booters in the UAAP Season 89 men’s football tournament on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the UP Diliman Football Field.

UST maintained their fourth spot with a 3-1-2 win-draw-loss record and four points in the standings, while DLSU remained third.

Both teams struggled to break the deadlock in the opening minutes, despite several attempts to find the back of the net.

Golden Booters goalkeeper Mark Allen Daig made crucial defensive stops in the first half, denying DLSU opportunities to take the lead.

In the 16th minute, DLSU’s Joaquin Collo came close when a shot struck the side of the post.

The defensive battle continued into the second half, with both sides creating opportunities but failing to capitalize.

In the 55th minute, UST’s John Selarde blocked an attempted shot from DLSU’s Uriel Dalapo.

Two minutes later, DLSU’s Alonso Aguilar failed to convert a high ball into a goal.

The España-based squad threatened to break the deadlock in the 58th minute when Paraiso attempted to convert a pass from Selarde but Green Booters’ goalkeeper Iñigo Cesar denied the opportunity.

DLSU had another chance in the 77th minute following a side kick from Dalapo but the Green Booters were unable to invade the UST defense.

Due their defensive efforts, neither team managed to score, with the match eventually ending in a 0-0 draw.

The second round schedule of the men’s football tournament is yet to be announced. F
