THE UST Golden Booters settled for a crucial draw against the FEU Tamaraws, 1-1, in the UAAP Season 89 men’s football tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the UP Football Field.

UST retained their fourth place seat in the standings with a 3-2-2 win-draw-loss record.

FEU attempted an early game goal with a kick from Khent Valenzuela three minutes into the game but was denied as UST goalkeeper Mark Allen Daig defended the net.

Golden Booter Novie Christian Paraiso tried to find the back of the net twice within ten minutes but was interrupted both times by Tamaraw goalkeeper Jetrick Piolo Fabrigas in the 19th minute.

FEU’s Theo Jico Libarnes then evaded UST’s defensive play as he scored a goal in the 21st minute to break the deadlock, 0-1.

A yellow card was presented for Paraiso after a collision with FEU cornerback RJ Pescadera at the 56th minute of the game.

Paraiso attempted to fill the deficit for UST with assistance from Joshua Balliner but was unable to slide past Tamaraw right winger Andre Yu’s defense in the 59th minute.

A corner kick from John Paul Selarde found the back of the net as the game approached its 87th minute to secure the draw for UST.

The Golden Booters will next battle against the UE Red Warriors on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the same venue. F – Nathalie Salar
