Antebellum

IT IS  the calm before the storm.

The cold howl of December has arrived and it bellows the last few days of the semester. For every student, it hails icy anxiety and pressurizes them to complete every task there is until the finish line. To some, it constricts the hearts weary of approaching deadlines and restricts the eyes to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Tomorrow shall come along with the rising sun and will spark newfound hope in weary souls, and the will to go on shall be reclaimed by everyone struggling in present time. Everyone shall rise to the challenge and transcend the fear that grips their hearts and immobilizes the corporeal body to walk toward the goal that they long for. The days are getting colder and the nights are getting longer, and people may start to stagger and even falter, but they will never lose to the blizzard of despair that threatens to come.
The world comes to a standstill as everyone wishes upon their lucky stars to align in their favor. Hoarfrost melts all around as the catharsis of hope grows even stronger.

There is always a way out. F ADRIAN PAUL L. TAÑEDO
