ARTLETS can still expect the Arts and Letters Student Council (ABSC) to perform at its fullest extent despite the vacancies for the positions of vice president for internal affairs, secretary, and auditor.
This was the promise of ABSC President Reymark Simbulan after he and the other newly-elected council officers took their oaths on May 11.
“What the Artlets can expect now is that we are fully-geared to serve them, considering na we are already in office,” Simbulan told the Flame. “Most especially now na na-recognize na kami ng administrators, it is easier for us to perform the job since they would expect us na kami na ‘yung incumbent [officers].”
The elected officers were asked to take charge of the tasks and duties of the vacant positions while waiting for the special elections, Simbulan shared.
“Considering the fact that [three] of the seven posts in the AB Student Council are left vacant by the abstain vote, our immediate step [was] to take charge of the tasks and duties left behind,” the ABSC President said.
Simbulan will handle the duties of the vice president for internal affairs while vice president for external affairs Jancisko Valera and public relations officer Wrexler Reiven Bayani will shoulder the tasks of the secretary. Treasurer Raffy Arellano, along with the rest of the officers, will handle the obligations of the auditor.
Simbulan added that the newly-elected officers have been working since their proclamation last month.
“Before pa kami nakapag-oath taking, we are already doing our job kasi hindi naman pwedeng nag-re-relax kami. Considering [din] na less than 10 days na lang before the Baccalaureate Mass, which is the first major project of the ABSC,” he said.
