THE FACULTY of Arts and Letters (AB) Women’s basketball team dominated on Tuesday the College of Rehabilitation Sciences (CRS) to grab their second win in the Thomasian Goodwill Games, 41-25.
Artlets opened the game with a 5-0 run courtesy of team captain Micah Atienza’s back-to-back jumpers. Combined with their early press defense, AB nailed CRS to a 10-2 score at the end of the first quarter.
Turnovers plagued both teams, allowing the other to score via fastbreak.
AB’s big men took over in the second quarter, leading the team to a 6-0 run with the help of their layups, 16-2. CRS’s efforts proved no match for AB’s defense, scoring them only 7 points, 21-9.
CRS tried to retaliate against AB’s stalwart defense, 29-16, but the Artlets pushed their advantage with Bea Diwa leading the offense. AB ended the third quarter with an 11-0 run, 39-17.
The women in blue maintained their momentum and managed to deliver back-to-back three-pointers before the end, 41-25, bagging them the victory.
AB Women’s next game will be on Saturday at the P. Noval covered court against the College of Architecture. F
